Week 4 & 5 - Goodbye Noosa

As there weren’t any breaking news, I decided not to write anything last week. Well, I did begin to write a shortstory in English. I have no idea about what it will result in, but I love the main character, a master thief. So I’m only writing for the writing itself which is quite rare. Normally, I plan beforehand and have the whole plot meticulously planned already in my mind before I type the first word.

During the last two weeks, I surfed again twice and even learned how to turn and catch (relatively) bigger waves. Additionally, I studied quite hard because we had a mid-course exam coming up. In my case, it was more like the final test before the real one. I scored highly enough to go to the exam with a calm mind. It might go either way but at least I know that I’ve got good chances.

That put aside, there’s not really a lot to tell. Time here is running so quickly and tomorrow I’m already going to leave Noosa and head to Sydney, looking for Nemo. However, I’m in two minds about it because I don’t like big cities that much and Sydney surely counts as one. I do look forward to surf on the beach and to see the Blue Mountains nearby but the town itself isn’t that appealing to me.

I truly enjoyed my stay in Noosa and I can recommend it to everyone interested in improving his English and also in seeing something of the world. It’s amazing how laid back the Aussies are and I like it somehow. I think this relaxed attitude is what Swiss people lack in. We’re too concentrated on making the best use of our time, always watching our dear Swiss watches…

In the end, I can only say that Noosa is awesome and I want to come back here someday, if possible. That also includes Australia in general ;) By the way: My accent hasn’t become Australian-like, because my host family is – as most of the people here – not from Australia, but migrated years ago from Britain. I realized that most of the people here actually came from somewhere else. Quite interesting, because our teacher told us that it is extremely difficult to get a visa to stay.

Well then, goodbye Noosa and hello Sydney!
